Just a brief explainer on Dual Stack Cisco networks. Transition Mechanisms for IPv6 are something I spent alot of time studying several years ago. Dual stack seems to be the method of choice and the simplest.

 In this lab I explore routing with OSPFv3. It is designed for routing IPv6 packets but also caters to IPv4.

NAT Lab with NGINX

Here is a simple NAT lab which uses a NGINX web server. I take a look at the logs on the web server and also show translations on the NAT router. 

NAT64

NAT64 is used as an IPv6 transition mechanism. In this video I go through some commands that enable its functionality.

IPSEC VPN

 I'm not that big on network security but I thought I would go through this topic because I'm interested in tunnels. I go through some of the IPSEC configuration and I do a packet capture. 

Smart Annotations

 CML v2.8 has been released. This short video explains some basic features, namely smart annotations. 

Cisco HSRP

HSRP provides redundancy just in case a link or router goes down in your network. I start with a traceroute to show the path taken in the network. I then shut down a switch to show that the ping recovers after the node goes down.

Here is a preview of Cisco Modeling Labs (CML) version 2.6. In this short video I go through the new layout which uses panes. I also provide a brief introduction to PATty.

IPv6 Tunnel Explained

 During my time at Dalhousie University, I worked on a seminar report entitled "IPv6 - Internet Protocol version 6" in which I attempted to show the feasibility of IPv6 Tunnels as Transition Mechanisms.

I continue my explanation here. CML does a good job of showing packet captures of intermediate phases of the tunnel.
